TEPC 5400 Cumulative Course Project

Week 1: Introduction to Ratios & Proportions

Welcome to 7th Grade Math with Ms. Hall.

Each week I will update our class blog to reflect the lessons we are working on in class. This week we're beginning our module on Ratios and Proportions.  You were introduced to this content in the 6th grade, so week 1 will be a review.

All problems and written prompts should be in the comments.

Monday: Mr. J explains here what a ratio is.  Write the ratio of four dogs to three cats in 2 different ways.  Explain to someone what a ratio is and how it is written.

Tuesday: Today, Mr. J explains here how to simplify a ratio by using GCF.  What does GCF stand for? Simplify and explain how to simplify 50:2 using GCF.

Wednesday: Watch Finding Equivalent Ratios here. Provide two equivalent ratios of 12 to 3. Today, you will write about what you learned in math class. You will start it off with "Today, I learned..."

Thursday: Determine if Ratios are Proportional By Simplifying here. Explain how 4/12 and 6/18 are proportional by simplifying. When do you think you will use simplifying ratios in the real world?

Friday: Learn How to Solve Proportions Using Relationships here. Explain how to solve for "x" using relationships: 5/10 = 20/x.

Also, write a paragraph, 3-5 sentences on how you will master the content learned this week.
